The NHD in NEPA
National History Day Regional Competition in Northeast PA
In 2015, the National History Day Regional competition for NEPA moved to Misericordia University with the help of Jessica Garner, University Archivist, and Dr. Jennifer Black, Assistant Professor of History and Government. Learn more about the NHD competition at Misericordia University here.
The first NHD competition at Misericordia involved over 200 students from eight counties in the Northeastern corner of Pennsylvania. It was an impressive event from many perspectives, providing a showcase for middle- and high-school students’ talents in creating historical exhibits, documentaries, websites, papers, and performances. Nearly 40 MU students volunteered their time for the event–acting as guides for participants and their parents, running the registration and information tables, selling snacks, tallying scores, and preparing the awards.
